Executive Committee:

Rosemary Masters, J.D., L.C.S.W., Co-Director is the Founding Director of the Trauma Studies Center. Her involvement with the study and treatment of psychological trauma began in 1980 when she was recruited by the New York City Victim Services Agency to develop and direct the first support and treatment program in the United States for families of homicide victims. Subsequently trained in psychoanalysis and family therapy, she was drawn back to the trauma field in the 1990’s after being introduced to the work of Bessel van der Kolk. Currently in her clinical work she seeks to synthesize the relational insights of family therapy and contemporary psychoanalysis with the techniques for integrating traumatic memory offered by EMDR and Internal Family Systems. In addition to serving as a Director of the Trauma Studies Center, Rosemary teaches the neurobiology of trauma, clinical approaches to the treatment of trauma and the relevance of attachment theory to trauma.

Marilyn Ingber, MS, NCPsyA, LP, Co-Director Marilyn is a graduate of the four-year Psychoanalytic Program at ICP (1995) and is a licensed Psychoanalyst in Private Practice. She is Co-Chair of the Trauma Training Committee and is on faculty of the training program. After receiving her initial training in EMDR in 2000 and doing ongoing study in various modalities of Trauma, she was privileged to work with First Responders and Survivors of 9/11 as part of the Humanitarian Assistance Program. Currently, her clinical practice focuses on individuals with chronic trauma histories and early attachment issues. She uses EMDR, Somatic Experience and mind-body techniques to target and facilitate alleviation of presenting symptoms and the activating triggers.

Lorraine Beaulieu, LCP, Co-Director of Training A psychotherapy provider for over 33 years, I have been drawn to trauma work from the earliest days of my career. Those years of experience coalesced when I felt it necessary to found a multi-family, multi-cultural program for the families of the 9/11 victims and to co-found a program to provide therapy for over 2,000 Ground Zero building trade workers – programs which have been recognized by the City of New York as well as several organizations involved in trauma work.

Currently I am on the executive committee of the ICP Trauma Training Program, work in a clinic as a consultant to physicians who are treating chronically ill patients and have a private practice. I have been on the faculty of the Medical College of Virginia for 21 years, where I train family practice residents in behavioral science approaches.

I have pursued training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR levels I and II, Couple and Family Therapy and Hypnotherapy, modalities which I believe are central to trauma work. I love teaching and enjoy supervising clinicians working with trauma. I am committed to the development of the field of trauma intervention and I like to work in a collaborative and supportive way.

Jill Stultz, LCSW has worked with trauma and abuse for many years. Her interest in posttraumatic stress began in the 1980’s, when she did her analytic training at the Karen Horney Institute and eventually became Director of its Victim Treatment Center. She has also served as Deputy Director of the mental health clinic of Victim Services (now Safe Horizons), taught clinical work with sexual abuse survivors at NYU School of Social Work and consulted at several rape crisis programs. She is currently on the Executive Board of the Trauma Studies Center and teaches trauma theory and treatment in the Trauma Training Program. Her principal interest is in integrating EMDR with other trauma-specific treatments and psychodynamic concepts.

Carl V. Boyer, M.D. worked as a primary care physician for 20 years before completing graduate work in psychology and becoming a Jungian analyst. He has completed training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with Pat Ogden and EMDR Certification with Laurel Parnell. He is on the Executive Committee of the Trauma Study Program at ICP. His private practice in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychopharmacology is in Manhattan.

Nancy Bravman, LCSW is a group supervisor and former co-director of the Trauma Studies Center. She is a group supervisor and Coordinator of Evening Colloquia and Workshops at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies. An EMDR International Association-approved Consultant and facilitator in Laurel Parnell’s EMDR trainings, she is also trained in Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psythotherapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy. In her NYC practice, she integrates trauma work and mind-body practices into a psychoanalytic framework.
